What does it mean to be American? What is “the American dream?”
To me being an American means to be able to say the pledge of allegiance, have the constitution by your side at all times, being able to vote and have a say on what you feel is right, also if you’re a woman you have the right to go to school and get a great education, that you are able to have the same rights as a man has, and that you are able to get the same job as a man and get paid the same as a man. Being an American is to help another, whether it be Polish or Chinese or Afghan or Muslim. The American dream is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative.
Weebly Quickwrite: Freedom + Conflict

The cost and benefits of freedom are that what ever you want to do has to follow certain types of rules, for example in freedom of press you can publish what ever you want as long as it's not a threat to the U.S or to anybody else. The benefits of conflict are that you can grow from that conflict and resolve the conflict but the cost is that you might cause so damage and you might not be able to resolve that conflict do to all the damage that has been caused. In a way conflict and freedom interrelate, for example with all this freedom it can cause conflict in other countries and in our country too because people in other countries might want to legally come here just to have the freedom we have and it might cause conflict. They can sometimes be true opposites but it all depends on the situation. In some situation there is a paradoxical relationship between conflict and freedom. For example, in the world today women don't have as much rights as men, so with that leads conflict and freedom of speech, like when the women's march took place in Washington D.C, January 21,2107 , they were using freedom of press but didn't cause any conflict.
October Reflection

So far I'm reaching my goal of have a 90% in all my classes, raising my hand everyday in all my classes and to try hard on anything I put my mind to. I'm doing really good on reading more, I read almost everyday and every new book is a little harder than the last one I read. My participation is getting better and better because in the beginning of the year I never volunteered and now I do it almost everyday. My strengths in this class is turning everything in on time and trying my best, my weaknesses are remembering last weeks flashcards. I feel like I'm not meant to be a writer because my biggest challenge is spelling or using better words. It's easy for me to participate, now that I'm getting use to it. I want to work on becoming a better writer and speller because it would really help me out in high school and in collage.
"The Crucible" F.I.N.D Reflection

One fact about "The Crucible" is that "The Crucible" is a 1953 play by American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692/93. While reading about "The Crucible", I felt that Abigail should have confessed because she killed about 19 innocent all because she wanted to get with John but by the end, she ended up killing him instead. A new idea I attained while reading "The Crucible" is that people should be aware of how much we can get swept up in hysteria and what bad things can turn when we do. He is saying that we tend to lose our heads when we are afraid of something. A personal decision that I will make based on my reading and understanding of "The Crucible" is that to never blame something on someone that didn't really do it so you can get something you want but don't really deserve after what you have caused.
Growth Mindset Project-
In our childhoods, our mindsets start to develop and change over time into our adulthood. The theory of having a fixed or growth mindset can contribute to our success in the future of our lives. According to an article by Eduardo Briceno, in the past, people thought a growth mindset was about high expectations of being perfect. In reality, they were describing the opposite, a fixed mindset. In the article titled “Growth Mindset: Clearing up common confusions” by Mindshift,“ it explains a growth mindset is based on the idea that talents and abilities can be improved and developed. Instead of hiding from one’s weaknesses, he or she should acknowledge and embrace imperfections to contribute to having a growth mindset. No one's mindset is completely one or the other; it is more of a mixture of both and changes over time.
The children's story, Grayson and Felix shares a valuable lesson about staying motivated when people try to bring you down. Grayson is the mint colored shark with the growth mindset and Felix along with his sidekick, Fred are the gray sharks with fixed mindsets. Grayson is the mint colored shark, which is a mixture of blue and green. The green showing he is always growing, and blue meaning he’s open to new challenges. Fred and Felix are shades of gray, symbolizing their dull fixed mindset, that doesn’t allow them to explore new things. As time goes on in the story Felix and Fred are getting frustrated that their efforts aren’t ‘good enough’. Where as Grayson is finding new strategies to catch fish in addition to becoming more determined to prove himself as time progressed. The story of Grayson and Felix will have a valuable contribution to the kids that read it. They will see how the shark that was up for a challenge, stayed motivated and overall wanted to grow successfully in the end.

Reflection
What i learned from the growth and fixed mindset project was that a growth mindset was a mindset that helped you grow and a fixed mindset didn’t help you grow but instead you stay the same. Something new I learned was that we have a mixture of both mindsets and not a whole mindset. I realized that in sports I have more of a fixed mindset than growth and when it comes to school I have more of a growth mindset than a fixed mindset. Working with others really helps me to exchange the work and to learn to get along with people. Having a growth mindset can really help you in the future and it’s more likely that you get a better job than a fixed mindset. So I learned it’s better to have more of a growth mindset than a fixed mindset.
